About Us
Paws Mongolia was founded by Yuna Gelegdorj, a Mongolian-born advocate committed to advancing humane and practical solutions for companion animal welfare. After recognizing the growing challenges faced by free-roaming dogs and cats in Mongolia, she established the organization to support long-term, community-based solutions grounded in responsible care.
Paws Mongolia works to address animal welfare challenges through public awareness and community engagement. A core part of the organization’s approach is the use of public educational signage and billboards, designed to reach people in everyday environments and encourage more humane and responsible treatment of animals.
As a U.S.-based nonprofit working through local partnerships, Paws Mongolia collaborates with Mongolian organizations, shelters, caregivers, and volunteer networks to support practical initiatives and strengthen ongoing efforts on the ground. This includes helping address immediate welfare needs while contributing to long-term improvement.
The organization also works to bridge local needs with broader best practices by supporting realistic, achievable approaches that can be sustained within communities. Its work emphasizes accountability, transparency, and measurable progress, with the goal of creating lasting, practical change.
Paws Mongolia is guided by a commitment to cultural understanding and collaboration, recognizing that meaningful progress comes through shared responsibility and steady, sustained effort.
